Tarrant Daycare Worker Arrested For Sexual Abuse
by Mary Stewart
FORT WORTH (CBS 11 News) ―
Police are investigating a daycare worker who allegedly abused at least six children. The case is being called one of the largest child sexual abuse cases in North Texas.
Authorities say that they receive calls about Carl Mason Jr. on a daily basis. The 21-year-old has been an employee with Children's Palace Christian Center for two years. Coworkers said that he worked with children in three Tarrant County cities.
Police say that they found pornographic pictures of children on Mason's computer.
Terri Nava of Children's Palace Christian Center said, "We've gotten stronger through this, and parents have supported us and loved us, and we appreciate that." After Mason's arrest, a poster was hung in the center's lobby with words of encouragement from parents.
Parents had been extremely fond of the Haltom City man, as were the daycare center's manager and assistant. They were all stunned by Mason's arrest.
"Naturally, parents are very upset," said prosecutor Mitch Poe. "We have had an information meeting and about 75 parents were at that meeting."
Prosecutors interviewed nearly three dozen children at the daycare center.
Police say that they expect to file more charges against Mason.
