Man Injured In Fort Worth Bar Raid Speaks Out

FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
It was a controversial raid of a Fort Worth gay bar, one that left a man hospitalized and one that prompted investigations from the city council, police and even the state. One week later the man behind the picture that stirred so many emotions speaks about the controversial night.
"The clot is behind my right eye."
26 year old Chad Gibson is left to nurse a head injury and his face is still healing from an incident he can't recall.
"I was at the bar buying drinks for my friends and I. The next thing I remember is waking up in the ICU," Gibson said. "I'm just appalled that they took it to the level that they did."
It was a week ago Sunday when Fort Worth Police officers, along with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission conducted a bar inspection at the Rainbow Lounge. Seven people were arrested for public intoxication, including Gibson.
"It shouldn't have happened to me and it shouldn't happen to anyone else."
Patrons say the officers used excessive force, yet Fort Worth Police Chief Jeff Halstead says it was the TABC who arrested Gibson.
"A lot of the doctors I've talked to say you can't get this kind of blow to the head from just falling, if I had just fallen like they said I did."
As Gibson recovers the gay community reacts, organizing another rally in the middle of Sundance Square in Fort Worth, as both sides continue their fight for answers.
"You know what, they need to accept responsibility of what they did to me and to everyone," Gibson said. "That's all I want I want the truth."
