$50,000 Reward Offered For Hit & Run Information

CORSICANA (CBS 11 News) ― Officials are hoping an incentive of up to $50,000 will generate information and help them find the person they believe is responsible for the deadly hit and run of a U.S. Letter Carrier.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Corsicana Police Department are offering the reward for information leading to the arrest of Daniel Gonzalez Rodriquez. He's 25-years-old, approximately 5'1 to 5'4 and weights about 130 – 140 pound. Police say he has short black hair, brown eyes and a thin mustache.

According to authorities, on July 22 Rodriquez was hauling lumber in a pickup truck when he ran a red light and hit the vehicle of a U.S. Letter Carrier. Donnie Evett, 37, was seriously hurt and died from his injuries later that evening.

Rodriquez fled the scene and authorities have been unable to locate him. "While I'm sure there was no intent to harm the letter carrier, Rodriquez Gonzalez's actions after the wreck are unconscionable," Fort Worth Division Postal Inspector Randall C. Till said in a press release sent out Tuesday.

Rodriquez has been charged with Failure to Render Aid, a 3rd degree felony.

"We would have worked it like any other accident most likely from running a red light it would have been a misdemeanor at best," said Assistant Corsicana Police Chief Ladena Bagett.

Anyone with information about the accident or the whereabouts of Rodriquez is asked to contact U.S. Postal Inspectors at 877-876-2455 or call the Corsicana Police at (903) 654-4902.
