Alvarado Road In Desperate Need Of Repairs
ALVARADO (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
There's a road less traveled in Alvarado. Welcome to
Country Manor Lane.
Those in Johnson County may know the street by another name: "Horrible Road" or "Pothole Road."
Many say that the street only leads to damages (and expensive repairs) on vehicles. Nearby residents want the road to be fixed, but those in charge seem to be passing the buck and passing over the street.
Country Manor Lane is ridden with dips, cracks and potholes. In some places, the street is worn down to the ground. "They would pop the tires," explained one resident.
Despite the hurt this street can put on a wallet, those living along Country Manor Lane say it's the children who suffer the most. School buses won't travel down the road, forcing kids to walk to school. Without a school bus, and with two registered sex offenders living along the street, parents have concerns deeper than a few potholes.
According to residents, a Dallas developer owned the land and promised to fix the road, but never did. He then tried to turn the road over to Johnson County, but it was turned down because of the condition.
Residents have tried to patch the problem in hopes that someone will come and help with repairs.
CBS 11 News tried contacting the county, the school district and the developer about Country Manor Lane, but nobody would comment on the issue or return phone calls.
