Cowboys' Garrett Interviews With Detroit, Denver

DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― CBS 11 Sports has learned that Cowboys Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator Jason Garrett has had a busy 24 hours.

Garrett interviewed with the Detroit Lions on Monday night about their head coaching vacancy. It had been widely reported that Garrett had turned down an opportunity to interview with the Lions.

Less than a day later, Garrett was in Denver trying to convince the Broncos that he would be just the right man to replace Mike Shanahan.

After turning down both Baltimore and Atlanta last year for head coaching positions, conventional wisdom said that Garrett's stock had dropped this year. Conventional wisdom was wrong.

Garrett has been coaching for just 4 years in the NFL, the last two as the Cowboys Offensive Coordinator. Tuesday in Denver, Ggarrett said he is ready to lead an NFL team.

"I think any time you go through another season and you have the experience of being a coordinator one more time and the different opportunities you have to prepare you team and do the things you do during the course of a season, I think you become more ready as a result of that," Garrett said before interviewing with the Broncos Tuesday afternoon.

"I felt like I was ready to do it last year. I felt it was the best situation for me to stay in Dallas last year and again, I am excited to have the opportunity to speak with the Broncos."
