Dallas Officer Recovering After Chase, Crash

DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― A Dallas Police officer is recovering after hitting a tree following a high speed chase Saturday night.

Officer Christopher Cordray had surgery on his ankle Sunday at Baylor University Medical Center, and will undergo hip surgery Monday morning.

The chase started Saturday night after police responded to a family violence call.  When officers arrived, the suspect, 27-year-old Jason Sneed of Dallas, was inside a vehicle and attempted to run over one of the officers.  That's when the pursuit began.

Officer Cordray's squad car was not the only one damaged in the chase.  Another one bottomed out as the suspect fled on foot.

Sneed was arrested in a Pleasant Grove Neighborhood park shortly after he jumped out of his vehicle.  He faces five felony charges, including aggrivated assault of a public servant.
