Local Company Has Solution For Dinnertime Dilemmas
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
You come home from work, you're done taking the kids to practice, the last thing you want to do is worry about getting dinner on the table. Now a North Texas company has a solution that it claims will save you time and money, while providing nutritious meals for the whole family.
Leslie Ann Jennings is spending her morning in the kitchen preparing her family's dinners for the next month! "I am actually working on the Kentucky pork rub. I'll do the sauce in a different bag; I'll put that together with the pork chops in a big bag."
Jennings is a customer at
Dream Dinners in North Richland Hills. Dream Dinners offers a venue for busy home cooks to prepare more than a dozen meals in just two hours time.
Franchise owner Cindy Dunklin explains, "We've done all the planning for them, all the prep work, all they have to do is come in and follow instructions, make their meals take them home and they're ready to go."
Every month there are 14 different menu choices. Entrees include things like chicken, lasagna and pork chops. "They're priced according to what they use instead of going to the grocery store and paying for the unique ingredients. It's right here, it's cost effective, efficient, fun," Dunkin explained.
Jennings has been using the service for two years. She says her kids have more variety in their diet and the family is spending more time together. "At least a few nights I have something I can make really quickly that's a great meal, that's good, good for my family and gets us all together."
And the best part, according to Jennings, "You don't have to do any cleanup, when you're done with your station you just walk away and move on to the next one."
Millicent Martin has two active boys at home. Between soccer practice, karate and homework help there's not a lot of time for cooking. "Takes me about an hour and a half to complete the whole session and I have a full freezer stocked with my family's food," said the busy mother.
Martin says she's saved money by using only what she needs. And she saves time, which is what Dunklin says many families are trying to do. "If you can get your entree planned and on the table the rest of dinner is easy and then you can just relax with your family."
Entrees are priced for three or six servings, depending on your family size, and they cost anywhere from $10-$30 each.
Dream Dinners also has delivery to Frisco and Arlington and is offering a ten-percent discount for new customers. Just use this code: 75DDNC1209 when you
