1 Teen Dead, 4 Teens Injured In Arlington Crash
ARLINGTON (CBS 11 News) ―
Police say alcohol and speed were a deadly cocktail mix Thursday morning when a car with 5 teens crashed in Arlington.
The car missed a turn on West Sublett and ran up onto the median, knocking over trees and a light pole before flipping upside down and landing on the roof, police said.
One teenager, identified as 19-year-old Cory Hill, died at the scene. Arlington police say he was riding in the rear of the car and was not wearing his seatbelt.
Also in the car were Dizhwar Sindy, 18, a 16-year-old male not wearing his seatbelt and 19-year-old Nabil Bader, who was also not wearing his seatbelt. All were injured and taken to JPS Hospital and are expected to recover.
The driver, 19-year-old Michael Reynolds, was described by Arlington Police as heavily intoxicated at the time of the accident. He has been charged with intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault.
"Unfortunately, alcohol and high speed in this case ended up costing someone his life, and it changed the life of the driver, facing felony charges," said Blake Miller, Arlington Police Department.
Police say Reynolds had been in trouble before for stealing beer.
This is the 15th fatal traffic accident in Arlington this year.
