Fifth Elashi Brother Sentenced

(AP) The last of five brothers who ran a computer business linked to having financial dealings with a terrorist was sentenced Friday to nearly seven years in federal prison.

Basman Elashi, 50, who had been the logistics and credit manager, was sentenced to 80 months in prison after being convicted last year on three conspiracy counts.

Earlier this week, Ghassan Elashi, 52, received the same prison sentence and Bayan Elashi, 51, was sentenced to seven years in prison. Their Richardson-based company Infocom Corp., which is now defunct, was sentenced to two years' probation, said U.S. Attorney Richard B. Roper.

The other two brothers were sentenced in January. Hazim Elashi will be deported after serving his 5 1/2-year sentence. Ihsan "Sammy" Elashi's six-year sentence will run consecutively to the two-year federal sentence he is now serving on unrelated charges.

Ghassan Elashi faces another trial in February for his role in helping run the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, a Muslim charity that federal agents shut down in 2001 after the government accused it of funneling millions to the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

The five brothers also were convicted in 2004 of conspiring to ship technology to countries that the U.S. government considers supporters of terrorism.
