Funeral Services Held For Family Killed In Mexico
Marianne Martinez
WAXAHACHIE (CBS 11 News) ―
Hundreds of people gathered Tuesday to say goodbye to seven people from Waxahachie killed in a car accident in Mexico.
Loved ones remembered Carols Madrid Rey and his wife Olga as good Christians. Their two children, Daniela and Gael, died with them.
They also remembered Margarita Madrid Gonzales, Carols' mother, as someone who spread happiness.
"Very nice person, someone who would give a jacket away just to show the love of God, say family friend Norma Peters.
Even though Kaylinn Ortiz and David Lopez were so young, they clearly touched many lives.
Mourners gathered at the family's church to remember all seven of them and celebrate their lives. They sang songs and told stories about their loved ones.
The family drowned early Thanksgiving Day when their SUV plunged off of an unfinished bridge into a river in northern Mexico. There were no warning signs.
"To see 7 people go and a full life ahead of them was very hard on all of the family, friends and loved ones," said Peters.
The family was buried together at a Desoto cemetery.
Carols left behind two other sons.
