Fans Line Up For Oprah Taping At Texas Fair

Television talk show host Oprah Winfrey greets fans at the State Fair of Texas.

Fans braved light rain as they lined up before dawn to get into the State Fair of Texas for the taping of Oprah Winfrey's TV show.
Oprah saluted winners of cooking competitions at the fair as she taped her TV show Monday at the faigrounds.
"Y'all sure know how to make a girl feel welcome, thank you Dallas," said Winfrey, wearing a brown cowboy hat.
Show spokesman Don Halcombe told The Associated Press that about 4,000 people attended the taping. "It's going to air sometime this fall," said Halcombe.
Fans lined up before dawn in drizzly conditions to get into the 277-acre fairgrounds and stand in the uncovered viewing area to see the Chicago-based media mogul.
A backdrop saying "Oprah at the Biggest State Fair in America" was the centerpiece of the covered stage. The banner had images of Big Tex, the 52-foot-tall cowboy figure known for his "howdy folks" welcome to fairgoers, plus the Texas Star, a 212-foot-tall Ferris wheel.
Oprah even invited a special guest to be a part of her show taping. "Hello, Texas. How are you today?" country singer Martina McBride asked. McBride took the stage and performed for an excited crowd.
Winfrey on Sunday afternoon visited the fair, where security was tight as she ate a corn dog, greeted fans and visited some exhibits in preparation for Monday's taping.
The State Fair of Texas runs through Sunday.
