Suspected Drunk Driver Causes Fatal Dallas Crash
DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
For the third time in less than 48 hours, a person has been killed by a suspected drunk driver. This crash happened at the intersection of Skillman Street and Mockingbird Lane in Dallas.
The incident took place late Sunday night, shortly before midnight. A DUI officer noticed a white Toyota driving erratically. The officer followed the driver for a bit before turning on his lights and siren. When the alleged drunk driver continued to drive recklessly, the officer turned off his lights and siren and did not give chase in an attempt to prevent an accident.
Seconds later, according to police, the northbound driver hit a car coming east through the intersection.
It ended up being a three-car crash. One driver was killed. Another driver was seriously injured.
The suspected drunk driver and his passenger were also injured. If police determine that he was actually drunk, he will be charged with intoxication manslaughter.
