Wording In Texas House Bill 3532 Targets DISD
FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
A North Texas lawmaker has filed a bill that could break up the Dallas Independent School District.
State Rep. Yvonne Davis (D-Dallas) created House Bill 3532, which calls for the removal of school districts with at least 150,000 students in counties with a population of at least two million, neighboring a county with at least one million residents.
Those restrictions would apply to Dallas County and the DISD.
On her
blog, DISD Trustee Carla Ranger refers to the bill as reflecting "public frustration with the status of urban education in Dallas".
