The City of Fort Worth is preparing to open three more shelters for guests leaving the Gulf Coast as Hurricane Gustav approaches, bringing the total to eight.
Shelter sites are:
-- Worth Heights, 3551 New York Ave.
-- Highland Hills, 1600 Glasgow Road
-- Greenbriar, 5200 Hemphill St.
-- Handley/Meadowbrook, 6201 Beaty St.

Eugene McCray, 4932 Wilbarger St.

Martin Luther King Community Center, 5565 Truman Drive

North Tri-Ethnic Community Center, 2950 Roosevelt Ave.

Fire Station Community Center, 1501 Lipscomb

ets will be housed at the Fort Worth Animal Care and Control Division, 4900 Martin St. Guests can call (817) 392-3737 to make sheltering arrangements for their pets. All pets will be microchipped to ensure they are returned to their owners.
Buses began departing the New Orleans area at midday and are expected in Fort Worth by early evening. These buses are expected to proceed to shelters operated by the City of Fort Worth.
Medical triage will be available at the reception area. Fort Worth police then will escort buses to shelters.

Those wishing to make donations are urged to do so in cash through the American Red Cross at (817) 335-9137. No material items are needed at this time.
