Stretch Of I-30 To Receive Emergency Funds

DALLAS (CBS 11 News) ― TxDOT is pushing up the date for some much needed repair work for a section of Interstate 30 near Downtown Dallas. That stretch of road has been recently plagued with dangerous pot holes.

A large hole appeared Wednesday at the Downtown Dallas Mixmaster. It shut down Interstate 30 for several hours. Ten days prior, another hole formed on the I-30 bridge over Beckley Avenue.

One-million dollars worth of renovations was scheduled for August, but TxDOT engineers convinced the state Thursday that the work needs to start by mid June.

The repairs will consist of extensive patch work designed to last three years. In 2011, that entire stretch of Interstate 30 will be replaced with a new Calatrava Bridge. The unique bridges were designed by world-renowned architect Santiago Calatrava as part of the Trinity River Corridor Project.
