Fort Worth Pastor Accused Of Teen Sex Assault

FORT WORTH (CBS 11 News) ― A North Texas pastor has been accused of sexually assaulting a teenage member of his church.

James Robinson turned himself into the Tarrant County Jail after a warrant was signed for his arrest. The 31-year-old is the pastor of Southwood Baptist Church in south Fort Worth.

Court documents indicate that Robinson had been involved in a sexual relationship with a teenage girl at the church for nearly two years.

According to the arrest warrant, Robinson would pick up the victim from school and they would have sex at his home in south Fort Worth. The relationship started out with kissing when the teen was 16 years old. It then led to sexual intercourse when the teen was 17 years old.

"The problem with this relationship," said Lt. Paul Henderson with the Fort Worth Police Department, "is that it began when she was 16 years old."

"There were some laws that were broken," continued Henderson.

Robinson is currently out of jail on bond. CBS 11 News attempted to contact his attorney, but he would not return phone calls. Members of the chuch refused to comment.

The case has been turned over to the Tarrant County District Attorney.
