NASCAR Fan Hit By Bullet Inside RV At TMS

FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― A NASCAR fan ends up in the hospital after a bullet hits her RV at Texas Motor Speedway.

The bullet pierced the roof of Jill King's motor home Sunday morning before the Dickies 500 race.  Jill's stepson, Bobby Cook, was inside the motor home when the bullet pierced the roof.  He described the scene as the bullet hit the 62-year-old woman's right arm.

"She immediately screamed 'I've been shot. I've been shot.' She took off running out the door."

Brad Watson was inside a neighboring RV, and came outside to see what was going on.  "Everyone comes screaming as they came out of the RV, and people are yelling 'call 911'. I ran over there and all you can see is she was bleeding down her arm real bad."

The bullet came to rest in a wall near the door.  There were children and propane tanks outside.

Some 40,000 fans camped out at Texas Motor Speedway for this past weekend's races.

Jen Ryan says authorities aren't sure where exactly the bullet came from.  "They said somebody shot it from two miles away... straight up.  And it just... we had no idea. She was just screaming and it was just scary."

Jill's husband, Mel, does not believe the shot came from a Hunter or a reveler.  "I don't believe this was an accident for a minute. Someone fired toward that race track."

Mel Moss is offering a $3,000 reward for information about the incident.  If you have any information on what happened you're asked to call Fort Worth Police.
