Friends Remember Teen Killed By Wrong-Way Driver
Marianne Martinez
LITTLE ELM (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
Friends and family came together Sunday night for a candle light vigil in memory of 16 year old Kara Taylor.
"I don't know how to deal with it. I don't think anybody knows how to deal with it," said Jaycee Roberts, a friend of Taylor's.
Around 12:30 Sunday morning, Taylor was driving northbound on the Dallas North Tollway near the Main Street exit in Frisco. A pickup truck - going the wrong way - slammed into her SUV. Friends say taylor was coming home from a concert.
"She was bubbly, spunky, fun, always at concerts having fun," said friend Katie LaPoint.
A passenger in Taylor's SUV had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. The driver of the pick-up, 24 year old Mariza Martinez, was also injured and taken to the hospital.
Charges against her are pending.
"It's just unreal," said friend Kim Ramirez. "It's not something we want to take on."
Meanwhile, the principal of Little Elm High School opened the campus Sunday, so classmates could receive counseling.
Friends made signs to post around the school to pay tribute to a girl they say befriended everyone.
"I think she would love it," LaPoint said. "She didn't want us to be sad. She wanted us to be happy and remember her as a happy person."
Taylor would have turned 17 on June 4th. Police are still trying to figure out what lead up to the crash.
