Seemingly Healthy Boy Dies From Mysterious Disease

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS (CBS 11 News) ― A North Richland Hills family is struggling with the loss of a child to a rare illness.

Paul Michael Roscoe was a healthy eleven-year-old boy before he suddenly died Saturday morning. The medical examiner told his parents it was Kawasaki Syndrome, a rare heart condition believed to have been brought on by a virus.

It was a shock. Paul had played all day with his friends.

"He obviously felt fine and he was tired when he got home but the syndrome - Kawasaki Syndrome - was obviously in his body because that's what took him from us," said Paul's father, Paul Roscoe Sr.

His family and his community mourned and celebrated the boy they say was the best kid in town.

Paul played on a baseball team. He would've been at third base Monday night for a game. Instead his teammates played without him, honoring him by wearing his number 6 over their hearts.

It's a city league. But many of the players are from the school he attended - Fort Worth Christian Academy.

His class will honor him this week, making a box and filling it with good memories of Paul - then giving it to his parents.
