Board Terminates Lancaster ISD Superintendent
LANCASTER (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
The Lancaster School Board voted Monday night to terminate the contract of Doctor Larry Lewis.
He had been on administrative leave since last month after a performance evaluation and a projected budget shortfall.
The school board met behind closed doors for more than 2 hours. Lewis was only in attendance at the meeting for about 15 minutes.
The board made their decision after receiving an investigative report into Lewis' actions.
The report states Lewis made $33,000 in illegal zero-interest loans to district employees, withheld information for the school board and lied to school board members.
Lewis' attorneys deny all the findings in the investigative report.
The board has not yet named an interim superintendent.
The school district has had budget problems in the last months. School teachers have agreed to take pay cuts to save off layoffs.
