N. Texans Can Expect Major Road Construction Soon
DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
Two separate agencies will cast two separate votes Thursday on one crucial decision: where to spend more than a billion dollars in federal stimulus money.
The public had a chance to learn more about some of the plans Wednesday night.
The money has been allocated, and the projects have already been chosen. It's now time to vote.
The Regional Transportation Council will vote on spending $143 million of stimulus money on 17 shovel-ready projects in North Texas.
Some of the road projects could begin within three months.
This is the RTC's ready-to-go list:

Two public hearings were held Thursday, during which the RTC outlined each project. One was held in Farmer's Branch and the other was held in Denton.
TxDOT will also vote Thursday on where to spend $1.2 billion of stimulus money for the entire state.
The agency will oversee two stimulus projects in North Texas:
Construction of a new interchange between I 20 and SH 121
And reconstruction of "The Connector," which connects SH-114, SH-121 and I-635 just north of DFW Airport.
TxDOT previously set aside $630 million for "The Connector." Federal stimulus money will cover the remainder of the cost.
