Suspected Copper Thief Caught On McDonald's Roof

DALLAS (CBS 11 News) ― A man was arrested Monday morning while, according to police, he was trying to steal copper from a McDonald's near downtown Dallas.

Authorities found the suspect hiding on the roof of the restaurant.

CBS 11 News was the only crew on the scene as police raced to the restaurant, climbed to the roof with guns drawn and handcuffed the suspect.

Charles Clark, the manager of the McDonald's, called police after witnessing the incident. "I looked at the monitor and I seen some guy scoping out the building. He kept walking back and forth, and next thing I know, I don't see him no more."

Copper tubing had already been loosened from the roof before police arrived.

The suspect now faces various charges.
