Divers Search Haslet Pond For NRH Murder Evidence

HASLET (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― Divers are searching a stock pond in Haslet for evidence related to the December murder of North Richland Hills resident Marianne Wilkinson.

Police believe that someone may have tossed evidence from a moving car while driving down Blue Mound Road.

A group of divers with the Grapevine Search and Rescue Team have been scouring ponds for the last three days. They were called to the scene by North Richland Hills Police Department investigators.

Police have not said exactly what they are looking for in the area, but did say that calls from the public lead them to the ponds in Haslet. "We've got some tips that have been coming in ever since the reward has been upped and the persons of interest have been named," said Larry Irving with the North Richland Hills Police Department.

"We are encouraged about the information we are receiving," Irving added.

The "persons of interest" are Dennis Michael Taylor and Vincent Lane.

Lane is an employee at Taylor's Fort Worth trucking company.

Public records show that Taylor is involved in a bitter divorce with his estranged wife, Dusty Taylor. She is believed to have called police shortly after Wilkinson was shot dead on December 9, 2007 after answering her front door. Ms. Taylor believed that she was the intended target of the shooting.

Police have asked the public for more information about Taylor and Lane.

Stephen Livens is Taylor's attorney. He has told CBS 11 News, "I have talked with the detective from the North Richland Hills Police Department and we both agreed that if the police had any amount of evidence linking Mr. Taylor to the murder, Mr. Taylor would already have been arrested."

Livens went on to say, "This plea to the public for more information is merely a fishing expedition by the North Richland Hills Police Department in an attempt to justify their existence."

Livens also said that both he and Taylor believe Wilkinson's murder was deplorable, and they hope that the killer is caught.
