Police Find Gun Tied To NRH "Doorstep Murder"

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― New information was released in the murder of a North Richland Hills woman killed eight months ago at her front door step.

Wednesday, police said that a teenager found a handgun on the side of the road at Jerrell and Blende Streets back in March. The location is about 8 miles from where Marianne Wilkinson was shot.

The gun has now been tied to the murder of the 68-year-old woman. She was shot after answering the door of her North Richland Hills home in December.

Police say the recovered gun was bought by Carl Harrison of Oklahoma three decades ago. He died in 1980 as a result of a motorcycle accident.

Police were able to trace the gun's second owner, but the man died on March 9, 2008. Police have not been able to link either man to the Wilkinson family, and believe the gun may have changed hands multiple times.

A $25,000 reward will be given to someone with information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Tony Roten of the North Richland Hills Police Department at (817) 427-7046 or (817) 427-7000.
