New Information In NRH 'Doorstep Murder'

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― It's been a mystery in North Richland Hills for the past month.

Who shot and killed Marianne Wilkinson when she answered a knock at her front door?

It was December of 2007 when police say the 68-year-old woman and her husband were simply watching television when the doorbell rang.

When Wilkinson went to answer the door, she was killed in her doorway.

According to sources, investigators believe the shooter had the wrong door when they knocked at the residence of 8404 Spence Court.

Reports now indicated that one block over, at 8404 Park Brook Court, a woman called police and said she believed she was the intended target of the murder.

Sources say investigators believe the shooting may have been a professional hit.

The estranged husband of the woman from Park Brook Court, Dennis Michael Taylor, is now one of the people being named as a person of interest in the Wilkinson murder.

Taylor is the president of NTE Transportation. One of his recruiters, 45-year-old Vincent Lane, is also named as a person of interest in the case.

Officials will only say they believe both men have information about the shooting.

"They are persons of interest because their names have been given to us," explained Larry King, with the North Richland Hills Police Department. "Whenever we get calls from the public, their names have come up."

Police say they have talked to both Taylor and Lane, but they are hoping by making their names public, more people will contact police with information about them.

Taylor told CBS 11 News that the allegations are unfair, but he refused to elaborate.

Schepps Dairy is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
