NRH Murder Could Be Case Of Mistaken Identity
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
North Richland Hills police are receiving new information about the murder of a grandmother who was shot and killed when she answered a knock at her door.
More information is also being made available about one of the men police say is a person of interest in the case.
When police released the name of the two persons of interest, Dennis Taylor and a man who works at his trucking company, Vincent Lane, they were hoping to receive tips from the public. CBS 11 News has learned that one of the men is in the middle of a very messy divorce proceeding.
When Marianne Wilkinson was shot, after answering her door in December of 2007, police got a call from a woman saying she thought it was a murder ordered by her estranged husband and that the hitmen went to the wrong house.
Court records show a large divorce proceeding file between Dennis Taylor and his wife Dusty. There are numerous reports that both sides requested restraining orders and a claim by Dusty that her husband got in her face and made a motion like slitting her throat.
A judge ordered Dennis to continue therapy, take prescription medication for his 'condition', and to attend Gamblers Anonymous twice a week. Records also show that Dusty petitioned to take control of the couples trucking company and that Dennis threatened to, 'run it into the ground' before she could get a hold of it.
Police tell CBS 11 News they are making some progress in the case. "We have gotten a couple of phone calls in that's given us a little bit more of a direction to go in, in order to try and bring this case to a conclusion," said Larry Irving, North Richland Hills Police Department.
CBS 11 News spoke with one of Dennis Taylor's attorneys who would only say that her client is very upset and has nothing to do with the murder.
