Police Release Composite Of Serial Rapist Suspect
by Stephanie Lucero
FRISCO (CBS 11 News) ―
New information has been released that could help catch a serial rapist who has been terrorizing North Texas for two years. Police have released a computer generated image of the suspect. He is described as a black male, 2030 years old, standing 6'0", and very muscular.
A Home Invasion Task Force was formed by area law enforcement agencies to investigate the series of offenses the suspect is believed to have committed. The offenses include - robbery, sexual assault, and murder.
The latest attack happened in April at the Vineyards Apartment complex just off Preston Road in Frisco.
The victim survived after being bound, sexually assaulted, stabbed repeatedly, and left for dead. The victim of that attack helped police compile a composite of the suspect.
"She was traumatically victimized. We had to wait for her to get to the point where she was able to sit down with a forensic sketch artist and she's a very brave woman to be able to do that," said Sgt. Gerald Meadors, Frisco Police Department.
Police believe the Frisco attack is linked to a string of 19 sexual assault/home invasions that have taken place across North Texas, since May of 2005. Officials say the man has targeted apartment complexes, but often spaces out his attacks.
According to authorities the suspect targets first-floor apartments. The man who attacked the Frisco woman broke in through a back window and had a sawed-off shotgun or short gun and a duffle bag, which he used to threaten the victim to give up her purse.
Police are also recirculating grainy ATM video taken at a Southlake bank of the suspect withdrawing money from the victim's account, in hopes it will help identify the suspect.
Anyone with information about the sexual assaults or home invasions is asked to call a tip line dedicated to the crimes at 972-941-2148. The number will be manned until 9 p.m. Thursday night and until midnight Friday night.
Schepps Dairy has been offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the rapist's arrest and indictment since April.
