Eagle Mountain Marina Suffers $2M In Damages
FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
When the rotating storms passed over Eagle Mountain Lake, the owner of one of the marinas was there to witness Mother Nature's fury.
"I looked up and saw the funnel cloud come over my sea dock, and I saw it peel the roof off like a banana being peeled," said Kitty Wade, the marina manager.
Witnesses say the severe weather lifted up parts of the marina and the roofs off boats. The parts slammed on top of other boats, causing even more damage. Officials are estimating the total damage cost at $2 million.
No one was injured, but some were incredibly scared after being caught on the water when the storm blew in.
"It was a lot of lightning, a lot of thunder. If you could see anything it was just waves coming over the top of the boat," said boater J.R. James. "It was a mad house."
People could be seen cleaning up debris the morning after the storms. Cranes were brought in to clear the debris.
