Off-And-On Rain Forecast For North Texas
Heaviest Rainfall Totals South & East Of The DFW Area
FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
Heavy rainfall pulled through most of North Texas overnight and early Friday morning. Rainfall amounts were above one inch in several locations and we had some minor street flooding before 4 a.m. Friday.
In the meantime, lighter rain has been falling and will continue off-and-on through Friday afternoon, slowly tapering off by evening as the upper level trough responsible pulls east. The risk for additional heavy rainfall and possible flash flooding will mainly be in south and central Texas.
Some areas near Port Aransas along the coast have received 8 to 12 inches of rain since Thursday night! The Houston/Galvestion area has potential of seeing 4 to 6 inches of rain.
A coastal low pressure system has developed and will focus the rain south of North Texas. Look for steady rain in our eastern and southern counties into Friday afternoon. With all of the clouds and showers, temperatures Friday will hover in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees.
As the upper trough and surface low pull into east Texas and Louisiana overnight, we'll keep a slight chance for showers in our forecast through Saturday morning, especially in our eastern counties. Thick clouds will persist with low temperatures near 50 degrees.
Expect clouds and a few showers Saturday morning, slowly clearing during the day. We should finally see some sun by Saturday afternoon. It will be a cooler day than we thought earlier this week because of the clouds holding on a bit longer. Look for a high temperature near 63 degrees.
High pressure controls Sunday! Expect mostly sunny skies with highs near 70 degrees! A great day!
