Woman Robbed In Dallas Mall Parking Garage
DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
An armed man robbed a 69-year-old woman in broad daylight at one of the most popular North Texas shopping malls, the NorthPark Center in Dallas.
"He said, 'I'll shoot you in the face,'" recalled Carol Brady, the victim. "I didn't see a gun, but I wasn't in a position to fight him."
Brady was rushing to the mall to have some watches repaired. That's when a man stopped her in the parking garage and asked for directions.
The robber got away with Brady's purse. "My credit cards, my checking account," Brady said, "my whole life was in that purse."
But Brady doesn't only blame the robber for what happened. "I'm mad at myself," she said. Having taken a number of self-defense classes, Brady feels like she should have known better. "I knew all the right and wrong things to do, and I'm just angry I wasn't more aware of my surroundings."
"And that's the oldest thing people do is ask for directions," Brady continued. "I'm angry I fell for it."
