Denton City Council Tables Drilling Issue - Again

DENTON (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― A drilling site on Denton's Rayzor Ranch Development, that has drawn so much controversy, could move. The Denton City Council says it wants to look at a location more acceptable to the community.

The Rayzor Ranch drilling site was on the agenda again Tuesday night at Denton City Hall, and once again, the issue was tabled.

This time the council said they needed more time to look into another site.

The drilling site, that's drawn so much controversy, is located on the south east corner of the planned Rayzor Ranch Development. After learning of the location, residents complained that it was too close to them.

Tuesday night council members said they want to look into moving the drilling site to the south west corner of the development. A lot of residents think that's exactly where it should be.

"It gets it away from the public, the park, the hospital," said Denton Resident Bob McFarland. "It'll be a good place for it. They can bring their trucks off [Interstate] 35 to do their service work. The lights won't bother no one. The drilling noise should bother no one. "

City council members will meet with the drillers and surface owners to see if they can move the site – for the good of the people.
