Perry Reiterates Decision To Run For Re-Election

TEXAS (AP) ―

Republican Governor Rick Perry today repeated he's definitely running for re-election in 2010.

Perry says he's like the leader of a prosperous company who should stay on board.

Perry made the comments in Fredericksburg, where he took part in groundbreaking for the 40,000 square foot expansion of the National Museum of the Pacific War.

He was answering a question from reporters about whether his decision is firm about running again -- and the governor said it was.

Perry last month announced he's planning to be a candidate for re-election in 2010.

Two other Republians -- U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst -- also have been eyeing a run for the state's top post.

Perry says if Texas were a corporation -- it would be one of the most efficient and successful in the world. He says stockholders of that corporation shouldn't want to replace their chief executive officer.
