Woman Shot At In Apparent Road Rage Incident

DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― A woman says she's lucky to be alive after a case of road rage.

Debby Mortenson has cuts from flying glass after she barely survived the evening rush hour commute through North Dallas.

The 48-year-old accountant was driving up Midway just past Frankford in a tangled mess of traffic when someone got angry and fired a gunshot through her driver's side window.

"I don't know what the guy looked like," she said. "I don't know anything about guns. I just know I was very frightened, and I'm counting my blessings tonight."

Viki Short lives in the neighborhood and witnessed the aftermath.

"I lived in Los Angeles for a long time, and that's the birth date of road rage," she said. "I'm sorry to see it coming to Dallas because its sad and sickening."

Police have been unable to find a bullet or shell casing amid the pile of broken glass in Mortenson's S-U-V. The victim and witness could only give investigators a partial vehicle description and license plate number. The women worry the road rage shooter will hit his target next time.
