Dallas Police Arrest Triple Murder Suspect

DALLAS (CBS 11 News) ― Police confirm they have arrested triple murder suspect Robert Sparks.

He was taken into custody in the 3500 block of Mundy Circle in Oak Cliff around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Earlier that day, police say Sparks appeared for the first time since he became a wanted murder suspect.

Police say he carjacked Aaron Jackson, a man he had gone to jail with in 1991.

Sparks demanded Jackson's burgundy minivan at gunpoint, say police.

"I knew he was wanted, but what could I do?" said Jackson. "He kept saying, 'Man, I flipped out, but all the stuff they saying about me I didn't do. But I flipped out. I flipped out. I flipped out."

When police spotted the stolen minivan, they surrounded the area of Kiest, Illinois and Ledbetter in Oak Cliff.

Sparks led police on a short chase before being arrested, say sources on the scene.

In an email sent to media outlets, police stated Sparks shot at officers as they chased him. No injuries were reported.

Sparks is accused of killing his wife, Chare Agnew, and her two sons, 9-year-old Harold Sublet and 10-year-old Raeqwon Agnew, on Saturday.

According to police, he also locked his wife's two daughters, ages 12 and 14, in a closet and sexually assaulted them.

"A little more than three days ago, one of the most horrific crimes in our city's history occurred," said Dallas Police Chief David Kunkle. "Since then a Pleasant Grove neighborhood has lived in fear that a suspect would return and harm people in the neighborhood... Officers have worked nonstop to both identify the suspect and apprehend him."

"Now my little cousins can rest. They can have peace of mind knowing that he has been captured," said Gwen Autrey, Chare Agnew's cousin. "We don't have to look over our shoulders… We just want to thank you for all the help and effort ya'll put out."
