Circumstances Of Wise Co. Teen Death Investigated

Seema Mathur
WISE COUNTY (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― CBS 11 News is looking into the circumstances surrounding a strange North Texas death.  It involves a teenager who was found dead in a Wise County residential neighborhood on Saturday.

The Texas Rangers and the Wise County Sheriff's Department are investigating the death of Rowdy Slade Robles.  The body of the 15-year-old boy was found near an Aurora house.

Just before midnight Friday night Wise County Deputies were called about a burglary in the same area where Robles body was found.  After officials arrived they found that one homeowner had caught and held a 13-year-old male suspect.

According to sheriff's investigators, it turns out the 13-year-old is Robles younger brother.  It's believed the two brothers, and another teen, had been breaking into cars Friday night.

As a result of the initial investigation, police believe Robles ran from the scene after his younger brother was caught.  Sheriff's think Robles tried to jump a pointy, wrought iron fence to escape.  It was near that fence that the 15-year-old's body was discovered early Saturday morning.

"It looks like when he was trying to go over the trash can, he fell and he landed on top of the spike," explained Wise County Sheriff David Walker.

Carolyn Ramsey had her car burglarized Friday night.  "We find out that a boy died on a fence, over a couple of CDs and a screwdriver," she said.  "That's crazy, how sad."

While officials with the sheriff's department said foul play is not suspected, emotions in the case appear to be running high.

When a CBS 11 News crew went to gather information they encountered two people claiming to be brothers of the dead 15-year-old.  Unprovoked, they yelled obscenities while walking into one homeowner's yard, across the street from where Rowdy Slade Robles body was found.  "My f%/k#@* brother is over there laying on the f&%k#@ ground dead," the two brothers yelled.

The homeowner said the treats against him were unnerving.  "He was threatening to beat us and punch us," the man explained.  "It was a little frightening."

Pending the results of an autopsy, police are investigating the discovery of Robles body as a Questionable Death.  Officials are expected to charge the 13-year-old with burglary of a motor vehicle.
