2 Found Dead At Scene Of Sanger House Fire
SANGER (CBS 11 News / AP) ―
Emergency personnel responding to a residential fire discovered two bodies in the house off Country View Lane, in the Sanger area, about 45 miles north of Fort Worth.
The couple has been identified as 65-year-old Larry Fielding and 54-year-old Marlene Fielding. He worked at a dealership in Frisco. She was a dog groomer, but had not worked in three years.
Denton County Fire Marshal Jody Gonzalez said that the flames were limited to the living room, a hallway and the entry to a bedroom where the bodies were found.
A neighbor saw smoke coming from the house and called for help. "You could see there was smoke and fire in there, looked like there'd been an explosion," said neighbor Steve McEwan. "So, I hollered their names and stuff. No one answered. So, I continued talking to 911 and they said they were on their way."
Gonzalez also said that Thursday's fire is suspicious. Firefighters noticed an explosion had occurred, with a front window of the house blown out. He says firefighters also detected the smell of what's believed to be gasoline.
According to a neighbor, the couple's four dogs were sitting inside their Jeep outside. Also in the Jeep were health records for the dogs, money for the dogs, dog food and a note asking someone to care for the collies.
Officials are still unsure if the two people died before the fire reached their bodies.
Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the blaze.
