Dallas FBI Offers Reward For 'Scarecrow Bandits'

DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― The FBI is offering a $25,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of a team of violent bank robbers.

The men have been named the 'scarecrow bandits' because of the plaid shirts and hats they wear.

This team of bandits is suspected in at least nine North Texas bank robberies this year in Dallas, Garland and Mesquite.

Authorities have said that they work in teams of two or three, jumping counters and attacking bank tellers before taking off with money.

The robbers have been armed with handguns each time, and are considered armed and dangerous. "These two individuals have gotten progressively more violent during the last couple of robberies," said Robert Casey of the Dallas FBI.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Dallas FBI at 972-559-5000. "We need your help," said Casey. "We want these 'scarecrow bandits' in jail."

The FBI also recently introduced a new weapon to catch the 'scarecrow bandits' and other robbers. The Bandit Tracker website shows surveillance camera images from several North Texas bank robberies.
