Man Sentenced In Mexican "Sex Tourism" Case

EL PASO, Texas (AP) ― A registered sex offender in Arizona must serve more than nine years in federal prison in what prosecutors call a "sex tourism" case.

Authorities on Thursday announced John Dickens Armstrong had pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual activity with girls in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, across the border from El Paso.

The 51-year-old man was deported from Mexico last August and arrested by U.S. immigration officials.

Armstrong, who was sentenced Wednesday, was accused of engaging in illicit sexual conduct in a foreign place, more commonly known as "sex tourism."

Mexican officers last April found Armstrong in his Juarez apartment with a 15-year-old El Paso girl.

Armstrong, whose hometown wasn't immediately available, also allegedly solicited minor girls in a Juarez bar.
