Thief Steals Cherished Memories From Paradise
PARADISE (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
A 24-year-old Wise County woman, who recently lost her father to cancer, lost hundreds of memories of him when her laptop was stolen.
The trouble in Paradise, Texas began around 10 o'clock Sunday morning; that's when a thief broke into Renee Allensworth's home. Renee was at home sleeping at the time. "Them coming in here, while I'm here, is nerve racking," she said. "You wouldn't think out here [Paradise] somebody would do that."
Renee's father was just 50 years old when he lost his battle with cancer. He died on April 30. "He was such a good man. I'd call him Papa Bear and he'd call me Baby Bear," Renee said lovingly.
In the last few years, Renee had amassed lots of pictures taken with her dad. She said, "It's over 2,000." The majority of those photos were on her laptop, which was stolen off her coffee table.
Now, Renee is not only afraid about recovering her computer, but worries the computer memory will be wiped clean. "I don't want the laptop," she stated flatly. "I want all my memories of my dad back."
Renee's computer is a blue Toshiba, Product Number: 77537518K and Serial Number: 2078841801128.
While Renee says it would be nice to get her laptop back, she really just wants the pictures. "I would love for everyone to have the bond me and my dad had, and now those are gone and it's like losing him all over again."
Anyone with information about the burglary or stolen laptop should contact the Wise County Sheriff's Department at (940) 627-5971.
