A North Texas doctor may loose his license to practice medicine after being convicted of his third driving while intoxicated charge Friday.
Dr. Martin Derusha was sentenced to three years in prison and a $5,000 fine on Tuesday.
Parker County prosecutors say Derusha had agreed to give up his medical license after his conviction in Parker County. However, it is unclear after Tuesday's ruling if he did in fact give it up.
Derusha has an office in Fort Worth and works as an emergency room surgeon in east Texas. Parker County Assistant District Attorney Jeff Swain said the 45-year-old surgeon is a "repeat offender who needs to be off the streets."
Derusha was arrested in January 2006 for driving while intoxicated along Interstate 20 near Willow Park.

At the time, Derusha was already on probation from the Texas Medical Board because of two previous DWI convictions.
In January of this year, Dr. Derusha was pulled over again in Arlington for suspected drunk driving. That case has yet to go to trial.
