Saginaw Teen Takes TAKS Protest To YouTube
(CBS 11 News)
A.J. Hall titled her YouTube video "Cheated of Graduation." She received A's & B's in high school math, but failed that part of the TAKS test four times and was not allowed to graduate with her class.
After the Boswell High School senior learned she would not cross the stage with her classmates, she took her protest to the Internet.
"I posted this video because I want to get the education I deserve and I want other kids to get the education they deserve so they can succeed in college," Hall said.
She added she didn't get the help she really needed -- until her senior year. By then, she was overwhelmed.
Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD officials said they have a record of the times students were given opportunities for assistance.
"We do feel the Boswell High school staff provided numerous opportunities for A.J. to receive help in both regular classroom settings, outside tutoring sessions and additional opportunities," a written response noted.
Hall continues to prepare for the next TAKS test date in July.
She was accepted to Oral Roberts University with a certificate of completion for her
classes.
