Two Terrell Pizza Employees Gunned Down

by Brooke Richie
TERRELL (CBS 11 News/AP) ― Two Pizza Hut workers fatally shot early Sunday appear to have been victims of a robbery, police said.

A passer-by came in about 12:30 a.m. and found assistant manager Patricia Oferosky, 40, of Wills Point dead behind the counter. Police said they later found the body of 47-year-old deliveryman Stephen Mitchelltree, of Terrell, in the back of the Pizza Hut.

An undisclosed amount of money was gone from the cash register, Detective S.W. Johns said.

Terrell police say they aren't sure exactly how many suspects there were, but believe the motive was robbery.

Police think the suspect/suspects entered the restaurant just before the end of business. The store was set to close at midnight and the victims were dead when officers arrived, he said.

Police have made no arrests in the city's first double homicide in at least 13 years, Johns said.

Terrell, with a population of about 15,000 people, is located about 30 miles east of Dallas.
