Police say two people were shot and four stabbed early this morning in a post-Thanksgiving brawl at a Fort Worth home.
All who were injured are expected to survive.
Fort Worth police Lieutenant Dean Sullivan says the fight, at 4401 Glacier Avenue, began when an ex-boyfriend and others showed up uninvited to a family's Thanksgiving get-together.
According to the victims and witnesses, a group of uninvited guests, led by ex-boyfriend 22-year-old Alexander Lopez, arrived and began to cause a disturbance.
Just as a fight broke out between Lopez and a couple of family members, the female homeowner went inside to retrieve a handgun. Police say that at the height of the brawl, Lopez pistol whipped the 48-year-old homeowner with her own gun.
Witnesses say Lopez also pointed the pistol at the homeowner and pulled the trigger, but the gun wasn't loaded. Realizing the malfunction, the suspect picked up the gun's magazine, loaded the pistol and fired one time. That gunshot struck a 40-year-old female relative in the abdomen.
Other victims were cut with bottles and knives.
Lopez sustained a laceration to the head and a gunshot wound to the leg. Police say the gunshot wound was possibly self-inflicted as he attempted to chamber a round in the homeowner's gun.
Lopez was charged with three counts of aggravated assault, including two with a deadly weapon. Two others also face aggravated assault charges.
The police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
