Woman Suspected In Hopkins County Shooting Killed

SULPHUR SPRINGS (AP) ― A woman authorities were seeking following the fatal shooting of her ex-husband was killed Friday by authorities in North Texas.

Trooper Jean Dark, a spokeswoman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, said authorities located 47-year-old Kimberly McLarry at her home near the town of Yantis. McLarry approached officers in the home's driveway with a revolver and was shot.

It was unclear whether McLarry fired at troopers, Dark said in a story in the Tyler Morning Telegraph.

"She had just shot someone in the head and then pointed her weapon at troopers," Dark told the newspaper. "They felt threatened."

McLarry's ex-husband, 55-year-old Robert McLarry, was shot once in the face, said Hopkins County Sheriff's Department investigator Lewis Tatum. He said Robert McLarry was taken to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, where he later died.

Dark says the man was shot at a repair shop and residence near Sulphur Springs, about 80 miles east of Dallas on I-30. The couple divorced in 2006.
