12 Abandoned Horses Pulled From Dallas County Farm

WILMER (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
Behind an abandoned home in the Dallas County town of Wilmer, sheriff's deputies pulled out 12 malnourished horses Wednesday afternoon, one after another.
Some had bones protruding sharply from their skin. Two horses were found dead.
"It's not pleasant, coming out and seeing horses in this condition, it gets to you. We're all human we have a job to do, but we're looking out for the welfare of these animals," said Sgt. Pete Bonner with the Dallas County Sheriff's Office.
Bonner says it was clear when they arrived that the horses were in horrible shape.
"There are some lacerations. One has a broken leg. Looks like they may not have been properly fed."
Neighbors didn't want to go on camera, but they tell us they would occasionally see someone feed the horses, although they were not sure who the owner was.
The sheriff's office was able to track down the actual owner. They found out he had a heart attack six months ago, and someone else was supposed to have taken care of the horses.
A sheriff's spokesperson says it's too early to say if any charges will be filed.
