Dallas' Adolphus Hotel Evacuated After Fire

DALLAS (AP/CBS 11 NEWS) ― Guests at the historic Adolphus Hotel in downtown Dallas were evacuated after a fire broke out in the basement.

Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Ernest Gurule says the fire was under control less than 40 minutes after it broke out Monday morning. He says a 49-year-old hotel employee was treated for smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.

Dallas Fire-Rescue investigators were trying to determine the cause of the fire and whether it started in the laundry room.

The Adolphus opened in 1912. The hotel's Web site says it has hosted the likes of Queen Elizabeth II, U2 and Oscar de la Renta.

Hotel spokesman David Davis said says 150 guests and staff were evacuated as a precaution.

Guests were allowed to return to their rooms by late morning.
