'Miracle' Comes Through For Arlington Charities

ARLINGTON (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
Just when it looked the most bleak for Arlington Charities chances to be able to feed hungry families this thanksgiving, a miracle occurred.
On Friday, CBS 11 reported the mission had far too few turkeys to provide full meals for families.
But thanks to generous donations, hundreds of North Texans can count their blessings this Thursday with a feast.
"I just wanted somebody to have a good thanksgiving besides us," said Sue Pearson.
Pearson donated two turkeys to Arlington Charities after learning they were short this year. Pearson and many other Arlington residents came to the rescue. For seven hours Saturday, turkeys kept showing up.
"I just thought that yesterday on the news when they said that the grocery store backed out I thought that was just horrible. I'm unemployed, I know what it's like , and I don't want to be without dinner either," said a teary-eyed Sherri Wilkin after dropping off a turkey.
A local church had too many turkeys and also donated about 300 to the non-profit. Workers were speechless.
This year, Arlington Charities had more families sign up than ever before. With all the extra help and donations, they say not a single one of the eight-hundred families will go hungry this thanksgiving.
Families will start picking up their meals from Arlington Charities on Monday. Volunteers will also deliver 300 meals to the disabled and elderly.
