Alleged Drunk Teen Driver Kills Mother Of 3
ARLINGTON (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
A 17-year-old was arrested Saturday after police say the teen killed a woman while he was driving under the influence.
According to police, Nogaelda Zavala was in driving on Debbie Lane in Arlington when the teen -- traveling in the opposite direction -- went into her lane and struck her car.
The 38-year-old died at the scene. Two of her children, a 16-year-old and near 4-year-old, were in the Ford Taurus with her and both were taken to Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth.
A passenger in the teen's truck was seriously injured and taken to Dallas Methodist Hospital, officials said.
The 16-year-old daughter was treated and released while her brother remains in the hospital.
Brandon Burchfield remains in jail and was charged with intoxication manslaughter and three counts of intoxication assault.
