$1 Million Stolen In Dallas Armored Car Robbery
DALLAS (CBS 11 News) ―
Officials with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Dallas Police Department tell CBS 11 News that more than one million dollars was stolen in a Dallas armored car robbery.
The crime happened around 9:00 Wednesday morning in the 1800 block of Abrams Road.
According to police, a Loomis Armored Car had stopped in front of a Compass Bank. Two guards had begun a scheduled money transfer when two masked suspects drove up in a blue van.
The suspects demanded money from the guards after brandishing semi-automatic weapons.
"The driver did flee the scene when confronted with the weapon," said Mark White, FBI.
The suspects escaped with more than one million dollars in cash.
No injuries were reported.
According to White, ""The money was loaded into the blue van and the two subjects got back into the van heading southbound from this location."
A short time later the empty blue van was located in the 6100-block of Worth Street, at the Lakewood Public Library. After running the vehicle identification number and license plate, it was determined that the van had been reported stolen approximately two weeks ago.
The robbery suspects remain at large.
The FBI is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the robbers.
