Off-Duty DPD Officer Stops Attempted ATM Robbery
(CBS 11 / TXA 21)
An off-duty Dallas police officer who witnessed a trio attempting to break into a convenience store stopped them before they got their intended target the store's automatic teller machine.
The latest crime happened at
JJ's Beer Wine & Grocery, which is near White Rock Lake where
surveillance video shows a trio dressed in black break the front door glass.
Officials believe this may be connected to the recent ATM robberies in North Texas.
The off-duty officer chased two of the would-be robbers in a vehicle while another fled on foot.
The man who ran was later caught. The van the others drove away in was located in the
3500 block of Munger at the Roseland Homes. Authorities said one of the bandits may live there because it appeared the pair knew where they were going.
